Maths

At St. Mary's we believe in creating mathematicians. Our curriculum is planned to enable pupils to be immersed in a mathematical concept so that they can consolidate learning and become as proficient as possible. Teachers plan many opportunities for children to apply their maths learning to as many different real life scenarios, and across the curriculum. 

We use the White Rose and other high quality resources such as NRICH and the Mastering Number Programme. Our maths units provide enough time for children to consolidate and then apply their learning to real contexts.

The units are taught as follows:

• Number and Place Value
• Addition and Subtraction
• Geometry
• Measurement
• Multiplication and Division 
• Algebra (Years 5 and 6)
• Ratio and Proportion (Years 5 and 6)
