Welcome to our Hockney Class page!

English

This half term we will be looking at 'The Jungle Book' by Rudyard Kipling. We will be writing our own 3rd person narratives with an opening, problem and resolution.

In phonics we will continue to work on our knowledge of the initial and extended code, applying those skills within our reading and writing. 

Maths

The children will be focusing on multiplication and division, fractions, position and direction, place value within 100, money and time.

Science

We will be exploring the science of plants. We will look briefly at the parts of plants and how new plants are created by seeds and bulbs. We will carry out our own comparative investigations.

Geography

We will be looking at Northern Europe and the countries that make up this part of the world. We will find out about the physical and human features of these countries.

Art

We will be learning about Art History. We will create our own artwork based on an ancient myth using techniques used by Picasso. Will will also be creating our own minotaur.

DT

This term we are going to be designing, making and evaluating a moving vehicle.

RE

Our Big Question looking at different religions will be:

'How and why do we celebrate significant times?

PSHE

We will be thinking about the relationships that we have around us. We will think about how we might deal with difficult situations and how we could sort these out.

PE

On Wednesday with Premier Sport, we will be looking at athletics

We will be developing our striking and fielding skills.

Computing

We will be finding out about the importance of coding.

Music

We are looking at a unit called 'What can you hear' We will be finding out how a composer uses different instruments to represent different sounds.
